This adventure takes us into the mountains of Arecibo, one of Puerto Rico’s oldest and most historically rich regions, a place where Taíno heritage, Puerto Rican history, science, and some of the island’s most extraordinary natural landscapes come together.

Arecibo lies within Puerto Rico’s northern karst region, where millions of years of flowing water have carved limestone mountains into caves, canyons, underground rivers, freshwater springs, natural pools, and towering mogotes. It is this incredible landscape that surrounds the Tañamá River and makes this adventure unlike anything else we’ll experience during the week.

Arecibo also became known around the world as the home of the legendary Arecibo Observatory. For decades, its enormous radio telescope was one of the most important astronomical instruments on Earth and an international symbol of scientific discovery in Puerto Rico.
