About the event
Morning Hike at El Yunque
Start the day with us on a morning hike through El Yunque National Forest before we head to Luquillo Beach! Nestled in Puerto Rico’s northeastern mountains, El Yunque is the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest System, with nearly 29,000 acres of lush greenery, mountain rivers, and breathtaking scenery.
Its conservation history stretches back to 1876, when Spain’s King Alfonso XII designated part of the Luquillo Mountains as a forest reserve. In 1903, President Theodore Roosevelt established the Luquillo Forest Reserve, continuing a legacy of protection that endures today.
We’ll take time to enjoy the forest’s tropical beauty, explore its trails, and connect with nature before trading mountain views for ocean breezes at Luquillo Beach.
Please RSVP so we know who will join our group. Bring comfortable hiking shoes, water, and a light rain jacket, rainforest showers are part of the adventure! Also…
